    • one of the most common causes of sudden loss of vision (1)
    • bleeding into the vitreous occurs whenever the sensory retina is torn.
    • floaters are a prominent symptom
    • urgent investigation is required as there may be a retinal detachment requiring early surgery
    • treatment is dictated by finding the underlying aetiology
