Intracerebal causes of sudden visual loss include:
- stroke, characterised by homonymous hemianopia and normal pupil reactions
- migraine, characterised by:
- typical aura
- scintillating scotoma
- flashing lights
- gastrointestinal symptoms, such as vomiting
- complete recovery in almost all cases
